Patterson overcame a slow start and used a stingy defense in a 57-43 win over Poly, sweeping the season series.
The Clippers (13-3, 6-2 Baltimore City) trailed 7-6 after the first quarter and took a 22-20 lead into halftime. Though they never trailed, the Clippers didn’t break the game open until a 16-4 run in the fourth quarter.
Dereck Oliver and Gary Blackston led Patterson with 15 points each. Oliver added four assists and two steals while Blackston had 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals. The Clippers also got strong efforts from Tyquan Pointer (eight points, six rebounds) and Demetrich Williams (eight points, nine rebounds).
Patterson held Poly to just 14 of 49 (28.6 percent) from the field and forced 17 turnovers. It also out-rebounded Poly 47-33.
Koran Moore (five points, nine rebounds, two blocks) and Richard Hibbert (six points, six rebounds, three assists) rounded out the scoring for the Clippers.
Patterson is back in action on Friday when it hosts Digital Harbor. JV tips at 3:45 p.m. and varsity at 5:15 p.m. The Clippers won the first meeting 71-29.
