Dereck Oliver scored a season-high 33 points, but Lake Clifton held on to beat Patterson, 58-54.
Oliver, who had his ninth straight game of scoring 20 or more points, made seven 3-pointers and added four assists (and took three charges). The Clippers (11-3, 5-2 Baltimore City), however, could find a second scorer, and Lake Clifton evened the season series between the teams.
Patterson trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half before going into halftime trailing 24-19. Lake Clifton pushed the lead back to 11 and led 49-40 before the Clippers went on a 9-2 run to cut the deficit to 2. But Lake Clifton held on for a narrow victory.
Gary Blackston finished with six points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Richard Hibbert had five points and seven rebounds. Koran Moore had two points and 10 rebounds. Earl Ross had three points and Demetrich Williams and Tyquan Pointer each had two points.
Patterson is back in action on Saturday when it faces Theodore Roosevelt in the D.C./Baltimore Challenge at Coolidge High School (D.C.). Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
