Despite a game-high 21 points from senior Dereck Oliver, Patterson couldn’t hold on to a second-half lead and dropped its first game of the season, 69-67 to Parkside at the Governor’s Challenge in Salisbury.
The Clippers (5-1) recovered from a slow start and led 30-29 at halftime. They built their lead to as many as 10 points in the second half, but Parkside stormed back to win and remain undefeated.
In addition to Oliver’s strong performance, senior Gary Blackston added 17 points and 10 rebounds and sophomore Koran Moore had 13 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Demetrich Williams added seven points and six rebounds.
Patterson out-rebounded Parkside 43-26.
