Patterson rode standout performances from its starting guards and center to a 76-51 win over Milford Mill.
Senior guard Gary Blackston notched his second straight double-double, scoring 24 points and adding 19 rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Clippers (5-0), who have won their five games by an average of 35.4 points.
Senior guard Dereck Oliver paced Patterson’s backcourt along with Blackston, pitching in 15 points and three assists. Sophomore center Koran Moore had his first career double-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Moore helped the Clippers to a 56-26 advantage in points in the paint.
Patterson took a 5-4 lead early in the first quarter and never looked back. It led 34-17 at halftime and the lead never dipped below nine points the rest of the way.
Senior forward Demetrich Williams had seven points and 11 rebounds, helping the Clippers to a 55-30 advantage on the boards. Patterson rebounded nearly 60 percent of its misses.
Junior guard Richard Hibbert scored five points and senior guard Tyquan Pointer had three points. The two combined to defend Milford Mill’s strong backcourt, and the Millers shot just 19 of 54 (35.2 percent) from the floor. Sophomore forward Christion Adams added two points and five rebounds to round out Patterson’s scoring.
The Clippers are back in action on Friday when they face Parkside at the Governor’s Challenge in Salisbury.
