Patterson rode its three starting guards to a 62-59 victory over Suitland at Laurel High School’s Spartan Holiday Classic.
Rysheed Corbin, Dereck Oliver and Kwynten Brooks combined to score 55 points and came up with big shots down the stretch for the Clippers (8-0). Patterson advances to face McKinley Tech (D.C.) in the championship game on Saturday.
Corbin scored 19 of his game-high 27 points in the first half as the Clippers built a 37-28 halftime lead. He finished 9 of 17 from the field, 4 of 8 from 3-point range and 5 of 6 from the free throw line. He also had seven rebounds, four assists and three steals while playing all 32 minutes.
Oliver finished with 19 points on 8 of 16 from the field. He chipped in four assists, two steals and two rebounds. Brooks finished with nine points on a perfect 4 of 4 from the field. He added two rebounds, two blocked shots and an assist.
Patterson built its lead to as many as 18 points in the second half, but Suitland fought back to tie the game. Corbin put the Clippers ahead with a long 3-pointer and a difficult lay in and sealed the game with a free throw.
Dawan Bass added five points and eight rebounds while Emerson Atkins had two points and seven rebounds.
