Sophomore guard Dereck Oliver scored 20 points and junior forward Dawan Bass added 11 points and six rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as Patterson fell to Wilson (D.C.), 80-54, in the Baltimore/D.C. Challenge at Coolidge High School in the District.
Wilson built a 14-point lead in the second quarter, but the Clippers (1-1) went on an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 36-30 at halftime. Wilson, though, built the lead back up out of the break and never looked back.
Patterson was hampered by early foul trouble to its guards and struggled from the free-throw line. It also shot only 32 percent from the field. Senior guard Devante Conyers hit three of the Clippers’ five 3-pointers and finished with 10 points.
Oliver added three assists and sophomore guard Tyquan Pointer had four points and seven rebounds.
Patterson is back in action at home on Tuesday against KASA. The JV game is at 3:30 p.m. and the varsity game is at 5:30 p.m.
