Patterson used a suffocating defense to force 32 turnovers in cruising to an 84-44 win over Franklin in the second round of the 3A North region playoffs.
Three players had four or more steals for Patterson (17-7), which held Franklin to 36 percent shooting from the field. The Clippers advance to play at City in Thursday’s 3A North semifinals.
Aquille Carr and Devin Hebron led all scorers with 18 points each. Carr added seven assists, seven rebounds and six steals. Hebron had seven rebounds and four steals.
Myrek Lee-Fowlkes had 12 points and four rebounds while Leonard Livingston (eight points, six rebounds, four blocks and two steals), Shakir Brown (eight points, six rebounds, four steals and two blocks) and Nyme Manns (six points, five rebounds) helped Patterson control the paint.
The Clippers broke open the game with a 23-8 second quarter to lead 34-16 at halftime. They outscored Franklin 50-28 the rest of the way.
