Patterson jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never trailed on its way to a 66-59 victory at Edmondson.
The Clippers (13-6) led 20-6 after the first quarter, and while Edmondson narrowed the deficit after halftime Patterson maintained its lead and pulled away down the stretch.
With the win, Patterson must only beat Carver in the regular season finale to earn a berth in the City Championship at Morgan State.
Against Edmondson, the Clippers displayed a balanced scoring attack. Shakir Brown led Patterson with 16 points and he added 11 rebounds and two steals. Aquille Carr had 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals; Devin Hebron had 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals; Myrek Lee-Fowlkes had eight points, eight rebounds and four steals; and Nyme Manns had six points and 15 rebounds.
Patterson also got a solid contribution from Leonard Livingston, who finished with eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks. He caught two alley oops, slammed home a follow shot and had two crucial blocks late in the game to help the Clippers secure the victory.
Patterson’s defense as a whole was strong, holding Edmondson to 32 percent shooting and just 9 of 30 from 3-point range. Darius Walker led Edmondson with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
Patterson will honor seniors Travonn Barnett, Shakir Brown, Devin Hebron, Anthony Lee, Leonard Livingston and Nyme Manns on Monday against Forest Park. The ceremony will take place before the 5:30 tip.
