Aquille Carr scored a game-high 23 points to earn MVP honors in Patterson’s 79-72 victory over St. Frances in the Basketball Academy at Lake Clifton.
Carr added three assists for the Clippers (11-5), who led St. Frances nearly the entire game.
Patterson got balanced scoring from the rest of its starters, each of whom scored in double figures. Shakir Brown had 15 points and 13 rebounds while Nyme Manns notched his third straight double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Devin Hebron added 12 points and Myrek Lee-Fowlkes had 11 points and five rebounds.
Patterson led 19-9 after a quarter before St. Frances cut the deficit to 36-33 at halftime. The Panthers got as close as one point but the Clippers never relinquished the lead, thanks in part to hitting 26 of 38 free throws.
Daquan Cook scored 20 points for St. Frances, while Maurice White had 15 points, Dayshawn Wells had 13 points and Josh Forney had 10 points.
Kwynten Brooks earned the scholar athlete award for Patterson.
