Kris Jenkins hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer to lift undefeated Gonzaga over Patterson, 75-73, in the MLK Classic before a capacity crowd at Coolidge High School in the District.
Aquille Carr scored a game-high 36 points and added five assists and five rebounds for Patterson (8-5), which led by as many as 17 points in the first half. Carr was 13 of 24 from the field and made 9 of 14 free throws.
Carr hit two free throws to put the Clippers up 73-72 with 24 seconds left, but Jenkins grabbed a tipped rebound and made the game-winning shot as time expired. Jenkins led all Gonzaga scorers with 26 points.
For Patterson, Myrek Lee-Fowlkes had 11 points; Shakir Brown had seven points and seven rebounds; and Nyme Manns had seven points and four rebounds. Leonard Livingston added four points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
Patterson returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Douglass.
