Aquille Carr scored 38 points but St. Benedict’s held a double-digit lead for much of the game and extended it late in a 89-63 victory in the Dan Finn Classic at the Jersey City Armory.
Playing in front of many Seton Hall fans not far from the school’s campus, Carr dazzled with his quickness, speed and scoring ability. He was 13 of 23 from the field, including five three-pointers, and dished out four assists.
But other than Carr and Devin Hebron, who had eight points and nine rebounds, no other Patterson player had more than four points. Despite that, the Clippers (8-4) trailed nationally ranked St. Benedict’s by only 11 points heading into the fourth quarter.
Four St. Benedict’s players scored in double digits. Four also had double-digit rebounds, contributing to their team’s 16-rebound advantage over Patterson.
The Clippers are back in action Monday night against undefeated Gonzaga (D.C.) at Coolidge High School (D.C.). The game will be televised on CSN+. The channels for CSN+ in Baltimore, by provider: Comcast – 8, HD856; DirecTV – 643; Dish – 446; Verizon – 334, HD575.
