MILWAUKEE — Patterson had four scorers in double digits, including 19 points from game MVP Aquille Carr, in its 85-76 win over Price (Calif.) at the Under Armour Brandon Jennings Invitational in Milwaukee.
Shakir Brown had 21 points and 11 rebounds; Nyme Manns had 18 points and 16 rebounds; and Myrek Lee-Fowlkes had 15 points and eight rebounds to complement Carr, who was the featured attraction Saturday night.
After falling behind 19-13 after one quarter, Patterson (7-2) outscored Price 26-12 in the second quarter to go into halftime up 39-31. It wouldn’t relinquish the lead the rest of the game, thanks in part to clutch free-throw shooting from Carr, Lee-Fowlkes, Brown and Dereck Oliver, who finished with seven points and three assists.
The win represented Patterson’s first on a national stage in program history. The game was streamed live online and will be shown on tape delay on Fox Sports Net on Monday, Jan. 16.
Patterson’s schedule picks up in the next week. It hosts Digital Harbor on Tuesday; travels to Dunbar on Friday; faces St. Benedict’s (N.J.) at the Dan Finn Classic in Jersey City on Saturday; and plays Gonzaga (D.C.) at Coolidge High in the District on Monday in a game that will be televised live on Comcast Sportsnet.
