Coach Martin just completed his seventh season as head coach at Patterson High School, leading the Clippers to a 17-8 season and the regional semifinals. In the past seven years, coach Martin’s teams have compiled a 118-50 record, including winning the Baltimore City League Championship in 2011, the school’s first city title since 1976, and the school’s first ever state title in 2012. Coach Martin has led the team to back-to-back regional championships and to the 4A title game in 2011.
Coach Martin is a 1994 graduate of Baltimore City College High School where he lettered in baseball and basketball. He is a 1998 graduate of Coppin State University where he was a key member of the 1995 MEAC Championship baseball team.
Coach Martin is a certified mathematics secondary teacher and has been in charge of Patterson’s math department for the past seven years. He has been at Patterson for 15 years.

Coach Bell is entering his fourth year as an assistant. Bell is Patterson’s lead strength and conditioning coach, famous for his “32 Minutes of Hell” workout each practice. Bell has also been an assistant football coach at Patterson for two years. Outside of the season, he leads the team’s offseason conditioning and serves as an assistant coach for the B’More Finest AAU team. Bell is a 1989 graduate of Patterson.

Coach Oliver is entering his third season as an assistant. Oliver has coached AAU and high school basketball in Baltimore for 25 years. He has coached numerous Baltimore stars, including Carmelo Anthony, Juan Dixon, Donte Greene, Malcolm Delaney, Shawnta Rogers and many more. Oliver is a 1988 graduate of Lake Clifton High School. His son, Dereck, is a rising junior point guard on the team.

Coach Hoffman is entering his third season as an assistant. Hoffman coaches post players, runs offseason workouts and in-season speed and agility training and maintains the program’s Website, statistics and social media. Hoffman also is a coach for the B’More Finest AAU program. Hoffman graduated from the University of Maryland in 2008 with a journalism degree and assists athletes with English and SAT verbal preparation.
J.V. Head Coach: Dan Callahan
Coach Callahan is entering his fifth year as a varsity assistant and fourth year as the JV head coach. Callahan has taught Biology and Anatomy and Physiology at Patterson and he is currently the Instructional Support Teacher for Science. As a member of the Varsity coaching staff, Callahan has helped develop the skills of post players and leant academic support to individuals on the team. During the previous four years coaching the JV team, he has focused on teaching fundamentals to many players who were new to the sport. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond.
J.V. Assistant Coach: Eric Ford
Coach Ford is entering his fourth year as assistant. A graduate of Hampton University with a B.A. in Sociology (1993), Ford has 19 years of experience in the Human Services field in the Baltimore metropolitan area. Ford has worked for The Choice Program (UMBC), Head Start, Job Corps and the Y of Central Maryland. Ford has coached AAU basketball for four years and is currently an Assistant Coach for Team Sizzle. Ford has also served as Vice Chair of the Woodlawn Recreation Basketball League for two years.
